Step by Step

What happens at each stage

1 Apply
Application and Risk Submission
The process starts with your broker. Organizations interested in the Alliance program submit basic business and risk information through their licensed insurance broker — the same way any specialty commercial insurance program works.
  • Your broker submits the Alliance underwriting application on your behalf
  • The application captures information about your operations, property types, prior claims history, and existing protocols — information that goes beyond a standard excess application
  • There is no separate "membership application" — eligibility and coverage are evaluated together
2 Evaluate
Program Evaluation by Rainshade
Once your application is received, Rainshade Specialty LLC — the Alliance's program administrator — reviews your submission and determines your eligibility and available coverage options.
  • Rainshade evaluates segment eligibility, risk classification, and fit within the program structure
  • If your risk qualifies, Rainshade coordinates with participating carriers to determine available coverage terms and limits
  • Your broker is kept informed throughout — they remain your primary point of contact at all times
About Rainshade Specialty LLC: Rainshade is the program administrator responsible for all aspects of Alliance operations — member onboarding, underwriting coordination, carrier relationships, compliance, and ongoing program management. Rainshade does not act as an insurer. Insurance coverage is provided by licensed carriers participating in the program.
3 Join + Cover
Enrollment, Coverage Placement, and the Core Benefit
This is why the Alliance exists. Approved applicants execute the Membership Agreement and are enrolled in the program — and their coverage is placed with a participating carrier as part of the same process. Membership and coverage placement happen together, not separately.
  • The Membership Agreement establishes your rights, obligations, and program participation terms
  • Coverage is placed with participating licensed carriers — excess and umbrella liability attaching at $1 million, with limits available up to $200 million
  • Your tier status (Tier 1, 2, or 3) is determined based on your application and engagement commitments, establishing your access level within the Intelligence platform
  • You receive your Certificate of Membership, policy documents, and access to the Member Center through your broker
  • The Alliance's five pillars — Selection, Intelligence, Preparedness, Defense, and Coverage — are all now active for your organization
4 Participate
Ongoing Membership and Program Participation
Alliance membership is not a one-time transaction — it's an ongoing relationship. Active members benefit from the full intelligence and preparedness platform while their coverage renews annually through the program.
  • Coverage renews annually through the standard program renewal cycle, coordinated by your broker and Rainshade
  • Tier status can be advanced at renewal — Tier 2 and Tier 3 status are earned through documented engagement with the preparedness platform
  • Members receive ongoing intelligence updates — verdict tracker, venue map, new briefings, TPLF database updates, and plaintiff attorney intelligence
  • The 24-hour incident notification protocol (Tier 2 and 3) keeps Rainshade and your carrier informed of qualifying incidents before the claims chain is established
  • Rainshade manages program communications, compliance tracking, and carrier relationships on an ongoing basis — members don't manage these relationships directly
